THE CHURCH WORSHIPS TOGETHER__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

You are the body of Christ

~Gathering~

Prelude: "Christians, We Have Met to Worship" - arr. Mark Hayes

Welcome & Announcements:

Focus Statement:

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.  And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.

I Corinthians 12:27-28

Time of Meditation: "Come, All Christians, Be Committed" - arr. Lloyd Larson

*Call to Worship:

Leader: Christ is like a single body that has many parts.

All:  It is still one body though every part is different.

Leader:  Therefore the foot cannot say,

Right Side:  I am not part of the body;

Leader:  nor can the ear say,

Left Side:  I am not part of the body.

Leader:  The eye cannot say to the hand,

Right Side:  I don't need you;

Leader:  not can the head say to the feet,

Left Side: I don't need you.

Leader: if one part suffer,

All:  all parts share the pain;

Leader:  if one part is praised,

All:  all parts share the joy.

Leader:  Together, we are Christ's body:

All:  each one of us is a part of it.

L:  Lord, you have formed us to be a people--the body of Christ, at work in your world.

P:  We celebrate the gifts you have given us to carry out the work of your kingdom.

L:  You have given your people many gifts.  You have called some to teach, some to administer, some to offer hospitality, some to share the Good News, some to heal.
