Dedication of MCC Relief, Hygiene, and School Kits:

(by the FMC Peace, Justice, and Service Committee)

April:  We ae gathered together this joyous Easter morning with our offering of gifts of MCC School kits compiled by Amy and her students,  the 26 hygiene kits we made last month, and 8 relief kits to be distributed to places where disasters have occurred, people are on the move, and where basic resources have grown scarce.  We wish to help alleviate the suffering in the world as our response to you by sending your son to save.  As we dedicate these gifts, let us join in prayer,

Julie:  God of earthquake, wind, flood, and fire; God of those who wage war and those who are victims of war; may those who have suffered in disasters find refuge in you.  Help them in their distress to trust in your mercy which never ends.

People:  God of compassion, hear our prayer.

Tally:  We pray for those who are afflicted by powers for beyond their control, who are grieving and afraid and who are vulnerable to further loss.  May you speed to them relief, and strengthen them to face the challenges before them.

People:  God who loves all people, hear our prayer.

April:  We urgently pray this day for families across our world who have been injured or displaced by disasters of all kinds, be they natural or man-made.  We pray for families around the world seeking to rebuild their lives.  We pray for those in areas of conflict and war.

People:  God who desires wholeness and safety for all, hear our prayer.

Julie:  May you strengthen those who are responding to crises and are engaged in the work of disaster relief, providing food and shelter, clothing or transportation to those in peril.

People:  God who gives thrength and courage, generous and open hearts, hear our prayer.

Tally:  May the kits we offer today contribute to your sacred work, and may those who receive these kits sense your loving kindness and find healing and hope.

People:  God of healing and hope, renew us in hope and service as we offer our gifts and our lives to you.

All:  AMEN

THE CHURCH WORSHIPS TOGETHER Anabaptism at 500 Belief Five: Worship “Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” ~Gathering in the Royal Bible Classroom~ (around tables) Welcome and Announcements Focus Statement: Worship is a time when church members come together to pray, sing, read Scripture, share with each other, and give praise to God. It can be a time of fellowship, comfort, celebration, or a call for renewed action. It is a time to come together in God’s presence and remember why we make Jesus the center of our lives. Believers can worship in a church building, in a home, or in a boat—worship can happen anywhere. Scripture: Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them..” Time of Meditation : VT 1 Summoned by the God Who Made Us v1-4 Call to Worship: Leader: Wake up, O First Mennonite people! You have made us distinctly unique and yet part of your people world-wide. ALL: Gather us in to your fierce love, your tender care, your abundant grace. Leader: We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Roth, Director of the Institute for the Study of Global Anabaptism As residents of Holmes and Tuscarawas counties, oftentimes we each have been asked, “Are Mennonites Amish?” and “What do you believe that’s different from other Protestant denominations?” It’s sometimes hard to come up with an explanation of our faith. Hopefully this series of worship services (that will be spread out through this year of Anabaptism at 500) will enable us to answer these questions more accurately. We are basing this series on the above-mentioned book. In conjunction with our Anabaptist at Five Hundred celebration this year, we would love to have pictures of any community, service and/or peace experiences our church members have experienced over the years. Please give to April or Tabby who will scan them into the computer. You will get them back. FMC LIVES IN DISCIPLESHIP TOGETHER Mission Project #1 for June/July: Dress A Child As one school year ends, this program looks forward to the new 2025-26 school year. Giving our students who attend school in Tuscarawas County a fresh new set of clothes to begin the year is a wonderful blessing. Dress A Child raises money to serve the children in our county whose families meet the federal poverty guidelines. Last year, they were able to give 980 children $85.00 worth of new clothing! Make checks payable to First Mennonite, and one check will be sent at the end of the month from our church to Dress A Child. Thank you! “Life is good when you are happy; but much better when others are happy because of you.” -Pope Francis Mission Project #2 for June/July: MCC My Coins Count Relief Sale Project Each year, spare change (and bills!) collected by families and churches adds up to more than $600,000 toward MCC’s work around the world. Drop your coins, bills and/or checks in the bread basket on the table in the rear of the sanctuary.
